The best hotel in Johannesburg is the Saxon. Hands down! When I met George Cohen, General Manager of the Saxon at a dinner party last winter in New York he didn’t brag as much as he told me that I would do myself a favor by experiencing the hotel and that if I was passing through Johannesburg I owed it to myself and profession to stay there. So this past March on my way back from Africa’s Singita game reserve I opted to spend the night there instead of flying directly back to New York.
It’s now May and I was looking at a few pictures of the hotel on our website and all at once I was there again. Sometimes you need time to reevaluate an experience. I can usually find something wrong or something that’s not quite perfect in the best of hotels. Not so with the Saxon. In a city that is still dramatically changing the Saxon stands out on every count. ..
The service is impeccable from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. The architecture and decoration are pure perfection. The grounds are those of a beautiful well-manicured park. The food venues are exceptional in every way. The technology is the best the 21st century has to offer
The three pictures are of the room I was in, the very futuristic bridge connecting two of the hotel buildings and the main hotel pool. The Saxon was one of those hotel experiences you never forget and anyone going to Johannesburg and staying at the Saxon will, I’m sure, agree. Let me know what you think? Thank you George!
