Best Hotels in Riviera Maya

Rosewood Mayakoba

We are heading to Riviera Maya, Mexico for ILTM Americas – a fantastic luxury travel trade show – but where are the best hotels in Riviera Maya?? This is one of my favorite vacation spots and with so many wonderful hotels to choose from, a breakdown of the best of the best could be helpful for anyone trying to extend their summer or heat up their winter!

Banyan Tree Mayakoba – this is the go to choice for anyone who wants privacy and tranquility.  Each room is a villa with a private pool and huge outdoor area.  You never have to leave your room if you don’t want to.  You can even have all your meals delivered to your private outdoor dining area.  A totally zen experience.

Maroma – this is all about the beach! The rooms are simple but elegant and everything is close to the sea and sand. For an authentic Mexican experience with a true sense of place this is the place to be.

Viceroy – this all villa eco-resort is barefoot luxury at its finest.  But you will be close to nature so if the sounds of the jungle are not your thing, this might not be the right choice for you.

Rosewood Mayakoba – this is the place to be if you want to see and be seen.  If you are looking for more of a sophisticated glam vibe with some fun nightlife and gorgeous accommodations you will love it here.

Grand Velas – this is a 5 star all-inclusive.  All rooms are suites and the food is delicious – great for families or couples.

Secluded Luxury in St. Lucia at the Viceroy Sugar Beach

photo-1

If you want a secluded luxury experience, look no further than the Viceroy Sugar Beach in St. Lucia. I just got back from the most fantastic trip there.  I have never been to the island before and the first thing that struck me as my taxi drove out of the airport is how GREEN it is! St. Lucia is so incredibly lush and gorgeous. Over 65% of the country is undisturbed rain forest – and it grows all the way to the beach.

The Viceroy Sugar Beach is a collection of villas scattered in the hills overlooking the famous Pitons and the amazingly clear Caribbean Sea. You can hike, snorkel, see a volcano and swim in a waterfall all within 10 minute of the resort.  Or you can do absolutely nothing and just enjoy your private pool or the gorgeous beach and the larger resort pool.  I snorkeled off the beach and saw a school of barracuda and countless colorful fish. Then took about 10 steps and had a rose at the beach bar. What could be better??

But what really blew me away was the service.  The taxi from the airport took me right to my villa where my butler was waiting with drinks.  I didn’t see the reception area my entire stay! You just ask your butler to call for a buggy when you want to head to the beach, pool, restaurant or anywhere else you can imagine.  And within minutes you have a private driver zipping you away. The whole staff knew my name and my son’s name and they even took toys from the kids club for him to play with on the beach.

The resort was filled with honeymooners – and I can understand why – it so beautiful and romantic, it really is the perfect place for not only a honeymoon, but a babymoon as well!

Check out our  wonderful babymoon package – this is the ideal way to relax before welcoming a little one….Stay in a luxury villa and receive:

  • Sunset Cruise
  • Candlelit Dinner
  • Two Breakfasts in Bed
  • Couples Spa Treatment

Whether you are a couple or family, this resort will make anyone feel at home, and you will never want to leave!

The Viceroy Deserves all the Hype

Viceroy Anguilla

View from the Sunset Lounge at the Viceroy Anguilla

The Viceroy Anguilla is the “it” destination in the Caribbean now. I have been staying here for the past few days and this hotel deserves all the hype and praise it has been generating.

The rooms are spacious, modern and comfortable. My only complaint is that the balconies don’t have lights. My husband and I put our son to bed and wanted to hang out on the balcony, but it was pitch black out there!

But the common areas are beautiful. I love every pool and the beach is great too (I had heard it was lacking). I always prefer the beach over a pool and this one is very nice and the water is perfect for swimming.

The best part is the food. I don’t go to the Caribbean for food and I am usually happy to find mediocre eats. But at the Viceroy the food is delicious. The breakfast buffet is large and varied. The Bamboo Bar for lunch has the best burger I have had in awhile and their shrimp sandwich has inspired some daydreams. We even had sushi for dinner tonight that was fresh and tasty. All in all this place is a must visit!

My photo is the view from the Sunset Lounge – the perfect way to end your day.

Fourth Night Free at Viceroy Anguilla

As if we needed any extra incentive to want to go to the Viceroy Anguilla – now they are offering a complimentary night when you stay 4 nights or longer. And repeat guests to the island get extra amenities too!

All new guests get their 4th night free. Stay four nights and pay for three – not bad!

If you have an Anguilla passport stamp from 2011 you also get a $50 credit to the Sunset Lounge. And if you stayed at the hotel before, you get all of that plus 2 poolside chair massages.

I will be there next month and I can’t wait!
