Fairmont splendor on the big island

Fairmont Orchid Hawaii

Picture this: Me in a coconut bra, grass skirt, getting leid. Of course thats a lie, I don’t own a grass skirt. But these are images that come to mind when you think of that magical state known as Hawaii. Well maybe you don’t imagine me, until now, but these iconic images are what Hawaii is known and loved for. That little cluster of islands that are part of America and yet we still believe we are going “overseas”. The idea of flying off the main land onto an island brings out the Gilligan in all of us. Maybe a little Ginger too! No other place will I allow myself to wear a necklace of flowers.

The best place to stay is located on the Kohala Coast and it is called the Fairmont Orchid. This 32-acre luxury Hawaiian hotel and resort is known for its white sandy lagoon and aquamarine waters, a year-round children’s program (although who wants to bring them along, leave them on the main land, you know you want too) and five restaurants to chose from.
I have also been informed that it is also extremely popular for weddings and business meetings. Cause my boss suggested our staff meetings to be in Hawaii. My coconut bra is ready just in case.

In between doing that relaxing thing you’ve heard so much about, you can check out Hawaii’s many attractions such as Mauna Kea’s winter snow-capped mountaintop or the sizzling Kilauea Volcano to tropical rain forests and a undersea world to explore.
Fairmont rooms are spacious Hawaiian accommodations which offer a private lanai with a view of the gardens or partial angled ocean view.  The Executive Suites offer luxurious accommodation complete with stunning views, and the bedroom closes off from the living room with French doors and includes a full bathroom, the living room offers a Queen sofabed, a second writing desk and half bathroom. The South Tower Presidential Suite is a luxurious Oceanfront Suite located on the Top Floor overlooking the  magnificent white sand beach and swimming lagoon on the Big Island of Hawaii.  It features a full kitchen and separate dining room, a living room and parlor area. The Fairmont also has a “make room for romance” packages for a little bit more romance in your life, and now at days it is needed. (see another reason to leave the kids)

But the real draw card, apart from pure relaxation on an island, is the turtles. Native Hawaiian Sea turtles come up on the shoreline. Real turtles. Turtles. Can you believe it? Now how many places have you been to that can boast that? Close to the turtles, which is still amazing and will give you a moment for that to really sink in, is the hotel’s luxurious Hawaiian Spa Without Walls. I keep suggesting not having walls in a spa so at last someone listened to me. The Fairmont Orchid also boasts a full salon and 24-hour fitness center with a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront swimming pool and world-class tennis courts. For you know, those people who enjoy physical activities. The resort also offers a 36 hole golf course, something to do with walking around hitting a ball that you can barely see, I’m sure that appeals to someone so had to mention it as it is a major attraction at the resort. I prefer to be at the bar on the beach front. Yes, I shall have another while wearing my coconut bra on the beach front.
You may be on the island like Gilligan, with the body of Ginger but at the end of your holiday you will of thought you have lived like Mr and Mrs Howell.
