So here’s what happened: had breakfast with Tiffany, bumped into a Gorilla going to the Empire State Building and then had an unfortunate clothing incident when a train went under the subway grate I was standing on. I just smiled and shrugged, that’s New York.
The city itself is iconic and is full of its own iconic streets and landmarks thanks to hundreds of pictures and movies. Who does not know Madison Avenue, Park Avenue or Fifth Avenue? Besides my mum of course. And this is where I set the scene.
Street: Fifth Avenue. Hotel: The Setai.
This 60 stories high boutique hotel deserves its spot on the famed Fifth Avenue strip; walking distance to the world-famous museums and galleries this amazing city has to offer. Relax in the first-floor bar with a vintage wine from the cellars, then up the grand staircase to The Setai Fifth Avenue’s inspired fine dining restaurant, Al Fiori. Delicious.
The hotel itself has a salon, spa, pool and fitness center and all are modern and sleek. But the real draw to this hotel is the bar. Warm ambiance and a cocktail list that cannot be beat – it is the perfect retreat to unwind and take a back seat to the hustle of the city. And then, every night, are you sitting down for this? There is Jazz. Jazz every night from 8 – 11pm. This is a major attraction to locals and tourists and why not. Sitting with my cocktail, with good lighting and jazz playing. Now that’s New York!
