Best Beach Hotels in the Caribbean

The Caribbean is an easy jaunt from New York – so our clients like to go there often (although it feels like the Caribbean in my office right now!).  These are my favorite beach hotels for a quick getaway:

  1. Gansevoort, Turks and Caicos – Amazing pool and just steps from the best beach on the island
  2. Viceroy, Anguilla – Get a villa with a private pool for secluded elegance
  3. W Retreat, Vieques, Puerto Rico – 2 private beaches, 1 for families and another just for adults, best of both worlds
  4. One & Only, Bahamas – Next to the Atlantis, but a world away
  5. Jumby Bay, Antigua – Luxury all inclusive at its finest

Travel with Kids

Have kids but still want to travel?

It is easier than you might think. Conde Nast Traveler just did a piece on taking kids to Florence.  I took my son there last year and it was (almost) effortless.

We stayed at Villa La Massa (which is VERY good for kids – complete with outdoor play area on their beautiful, sprawling grounds) in a one bedroom suite. The suite was great because we could put the baby to sleep in the bedroom and my husband and I could drink wine in the living room and plan our activities for the next day.

I was initially worried such an old city wouldn’t be stroller friendly – but the cobblestone streets handled our city mini just fine. It made us feel like locals because they all had strollers too!

Everyone would approach us to tell us how beautiful the baby was – and the servers at restaurants went out of their way to make us comfortable.  I think we got better treatment than we ever would have without a baby.

We’re already planning his next getaway!

Flying in Style

Even the speed and glamor of the Concorde can’t touch the comforts of the A380 – we are speaking of the Emirates A380 (obvi).

This is really the ultimate in air travel, complete with electric blinds in your suite!

You can hang in the spa sipping Dom Perignon (they were serving 2003 on our short flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok) while you wait to shower so you are fresh for your arrival.  Sarah just informed me she would have my shower ready 1 hour before landing. With this level of service, I’m only disappointed that the flight is only 2 and a half hours!

France is the New Italy

Last year all of my clients wanted to go to Italy. I planned tons of incredible trips there – Florence, Amalfi Coast, Capri and Rome was a popular route.  This year it seems everyone whats to travel to France.  I have been working on a few different variations of a trip that includes time in Paris, then heading to Provence, and finishing up in the French Riviera. Sounds pretty good, don’t you think? I might have to head there myself later this year!

In Paris, I love the Le Royal Monceau Raffles and the Shangri La – one is eclectic and modern and the other is old world elegance. Which style are you?

In Aix-en-Provence, the Villa Gallici is a a beautiful little hideaway and the perfect home base to experience all of the wine, food and scenery that the area has to offer.  Or stay at Crillon le Brave in a village near Avignon for a visit to a lavender field and maybe taking a cooking class.

Then head to St. Tropez – rent a convertible and live it up on the beach during the day and sip champagne in the clubs at night. While there, the Byblos is the place to be.

I told you it sounded good!
