The Viceroy Deserves all the Hype

20120515 210646 300x223 The Viceroy Deserves all the Hype

View from the Sunset Lounge at the Viceroy Anguilla

The Viceroy Anguilla is the “it” destination in the Caribbean now. I have been staying here for the past few days and this hotel deserves all the hype and praise it has been generating.

The rooms are spacious, modern and comfortable. My only complaint is that the balconies don’t have lights. My husband and I put our son to bed and wanted to hang out on the balcony, but it was pitch black out there!

But the common areas are beautiful. I love every pool and the beach is great too (I had heard it was lacking). I always prefer the beach over a pool and this one is very nice and the water is perfect for swimming.

The best part is the food. I don’t go to the Caribbean for food and I am usually happy to find mediocre eats. But at the Viceroy the food is delicious. The breakfast buffet is large and varied. The Bamboo Bar for lunch has the best burger I have had in awhile and their shrimp sandwich has inspired some daydreams. We even had sushi for dinner tonight that was fresh and tasty. All in all this place is a must visit!

My photo is the view from the Sunset Lounge – the perfect way to end your day.

Breakfast at La Samanna – Aaaaah…

20120514 093415 300x223 Breakfast at La Samanna Aaaaah...La Samanna is a classic Caribbean resort and it is still going strong. The renovated rooms are fresh and modern, the service is great and the villas are unbelievably gorgeous!

The lobby and main restaurant are being renovated this summer/fall and by the holiday season this hotel will be in top form. But let’s not kid ourselves…the best part of this place is the beach. It is perfect! Tons of soft sand and the water is clear blue, calm and warm.

There is nothing better than eating breakfast with this view!

Good Morning from the Guanahani

I moved over to the Hotel Guanahani and Spa and the view from my room is almost as nice as at the Isle de France. The private pool definitely helps!

The Hotel Guanahani is comprised of quirky cabins sprinkled along a forested hillside, heading right down to the sea. It is not uncommon to see a turtle crossing the road or to find a giant iguana on your doorstep. This hotel definitely has a more traditional Caribbean feel and a campy vibe. I am excited to see more!

Fly Seamlessly to St Barts

20120507 184344 Fly Seamlessly to St Barts

I just arrived in St. Barts and it was the easiest flight of my life!

If you don’t mind small planes – this was an 8 seater – the service couldn’t have been better! I took Tradewinds into the island but that wasn’t even the best part. I landed in San Juan and a representative from Rome International met met at the gate. He took my luggage ticket and went to baggage claim to get my suitcase while I had a drink and checked emails. Then he came to get me when my flight was ready and I walked right onto the plane where I enjoyed complimentary wine. An hour later I was on the beach at my hotel.

If your travel agent offers VIP meet and greet service – take it! Or find one who does. A-hem I know a great one! icon smile Fly Seamlessly to St Barts
